Because of how season one ended, I cannot read these more light hearted chapters the same way. I just can’t enjoy them as much anymore

I've met a few people like him who just says what they want and does what they want. While it /is/ annoying and uncomfortable at first, it takes 5 seconds to recognize that they mean no harm to it, just playing around. I personally think it's nice to be around people who aren't always stepping around glass shards.
I think its part of the charm that makes him a little more... appealing and compatible (?) The uke won't go out of his comfort zone (aka the walls he unconsciously built from trauma) if he isn't eased out of it. The plot illustrates the walls as something akin to poison for him, and I think the top's personality is a reasonable choice.
But maybe, that's just me. Who knows.

I’d rather him stay a beta, and for the message at the end for the MC to learn that, even as a beta, all along he has been valuable. That his father’s abuse and his families standards are messed up. That they’re wrong, he doesn’t need to be an alpha or omega. (Okay and in the end he’s prob be recessive, so his family still wouldn’t accept him. If he’s an omega maybe they’d marry him off to some alpha, idk).
There’s already PLENTY of drama and narrative potential if the MC is a beta.
