I see a lot of ppl talking about the age gap, time skip, etc. I read most of the novel, and left a comment here about a month ago complaining about this, and I guess I forgot to turn off notifications for this series so here I am lmao.

Tldr I really enjoyed the novel at first, but I think the age difference was executed horribly so I stopped reading. So brief summary (novel spoilers, obviously)

There’s a twelve year age gap

There isn’t really a time skip. It’s more a gradual age progression where you the Ml slowly grows up and then once he’s an adult they get together. they don’t spend any substantial time separated.

ML lives with MC from age 18 to 20. At some point ML starts becoming attracted to MC and flirts w him etc.

MC realized this, and at first pushes ML away since he’s a child, and he was projecting his dead sister on him. Tells ML to stop flirting etc, ML doesn’t. MC says “move out or I’ll leave”, and the kid doesn’t leave. MC stays somewhere else for like three weeks, but comes back

Time passes there’s a chapter I essentially skipped idk. There was drama w the gang plot

Then they have sex ( pretty sure ml is still 20)

I stopped reading and was super super mad (still am) because I think such a massive age gap needs a substantial separation period to actually work.

I ranted about that in my other comment in case anyone wanna read that (I also replied to that w the novel link)

https://www.mangago.zone/home/mangatopic/15980593%20/

Anyways maybe other ppl were able to read through the whole novel , so ask them for more spoilers idk. I personally could not finish, and doubt I ever will.

Anyways farewell projection, I won’t miss you <3, but seju is still hot so I respect that

Oof I thought ML is the Yakuza guy and the MC is the student from your statement. I got confused for a sec. Idk it's just like a typical age gap stories but Yakuza theme. I see this a lot in JP shoujo where the youngest lover would go flirt the older lover etc and they ended up marrying.

As long as there’s no grape or non consent things, I am fine with age gap. Like you said, they got together when ML was 20, he was also the one who wants to be in relationship with MC(yakuza). I don’t know what you expect when you read the novel, It was obvious, they’re gonna end up together. I don’t really see anything wrong with this plot.

Because 20 in Korean age is actually 18... So he was still a teenager. I wouldn't have a problem of he was really 20.

Yes I knew they’d end up together. It was more so that the MC was essentially a parental figure to the ML, and they didn’t have any separation period before they started having sex. I just expected there to be some sort of separation period, but there wasn’t. I’ve read other series, like jueun, that are a similar thing but Ik it’ll be grooming / toxic going in, so I’m not expecting an actual good relationship.

I was just frustrated because I really loved this story, but it really felt like the MC started having sex with someone he still saw as his younger brother. And idk that is just weird to me. The ML didn’t have enough time to actually mature. If he had done his military service before they gotten together, I would probably have zero problems with it.

And like the other person mentioned it’s Korean age, so when ML is 18, he’s actually 16/17. 20, he’s 18/19 (I don’t remember when his birthday is)

If I had known there was no separation time going in, I probably wouldn’t have been as frustrated

Yes that’s exactly how I feel. Like if they met when he was 18, and then two years passed I would have less problems

lol sorry, yeah , mc =seju, older guy. ML=sejin, the kid. I should’ve made that clearer.

Yeah it reminds me of a lot of persistent younger seme chasing after older uke that I’ve read. The difference to me is that they lived together when the ml was still a teenager, and then when the kid became a legal adult they got together. And I’ve read BL w a similar thing before too actually, but there’s usually a separation period before they get together (so the ml can grow up and the mc no longer sees them as a child). But lowkey might be my fault expecting stuff like that to happen, cause I read danmei and those are usually different from Korean bl

Ooohh I see. So, He actually 18, that would make it a bit weird for MC to accept his feelings so early. A separation then reconciliation could have solved it. But I don’t think he saw ML as younger brother by the time they had sex, at first, he only saw ML situation as same a his younger sister but when he found out ML was a guy, he said he should get away from him( Cause MC is gay and he is attracted to pretty face of ML), also, I heard later our ML turns into big guy. The sex part was probably initiated by ML as well since he’s the top, that’s how usually it is. If only they started dating when ML was a bit older in age as well

Yes he does get taller than the Mc(seju) later on. Personally the physical size doesn’t really matter to me, the age difference is what’s important. Also the ML(sejin) being the top doesn’t change how I feel about it. Considering seju is much more experienced and much older, it’s not as simple as “he’s the top so he was leading things”. I would go back and reread the scene to do a more accurate job describing things, but I really don’t want to (this series lowkey makes me mad).

even though the MC finds out the ML is a guy, the ML still reminds him of his younger sister. And by that point, he’s already staying in sejus house, and seju understandably is hesitant to kick out a child that has nowhere else to stay. Additionally, the MCs guilt and regrets over his sisters death drive a lot of his actions in the novel. Of course as time passes he starts to see sejin as a distinct person, separate from his sister. But it still is an essential part of sejus character and their dynamic w each other. Personally, I think seju slowly getting to know sejin and starting to genuinely care about him was pretty well done.

There are many things I like about this novel and a lot of things that were well done. I just wish they got together when sejin was older. If there was a separation then reconciliation, I would probably absolutely adore this series.

I’m sure there’s other ppl who won’t be bothered by how they got together, and that’s totally fine. I was just expecting more from this series.

Korean people, and therefore the creator of this webtoon, use a different way to count age, which is two years above the way we count it. That's why in many Korean webtoons you see characters that in the first year of their university are '20' instead of 18. It's because they're not actually '20'. If you don't believe it, you can google it. Even though the system used by most of the word was pushed in Korea as well with the new laws, people there still use their old way of counting age.

Whatever if you are fine w it I don’t care. It’s fiction, read whatever you want. I’ve already explained why I don’t like this series and don’t like their relationship. No one could ever convince me it’s not weird. There is too much of a maturity difference between seju and sejin. someone who literally just became a legal adult is different than a thirty year old man.

These two losers were really pining for each other for like eight years lol. Happy it didn’t take too long for them to get together cause it was starting to get frustrating.

Lot of cute moments, and the art is good. But I really hope this doesn’t take a more toxic turn. Theres already been a couple of red flags. Pls have chaeheon deal w his problems and not become super toxic

Can these two losers just have a healthy relationship, that’s what I want pls.

I want joon to be free from ah/in, but I don’t want him to be stuck with the brother or green hair again. Like….. if joon ends up dating one of those guys idk how I’ll feel?? The only scenario where a relationship w one of them could work is if there’s a time skip or something.

I’m just manifesting this manhwa has a happy ending. Happiness for joon

Okay I’ve got a few thoughts, I guess. Overall this manhwa felt like one of the more pointless series I’ve read. The art was nice, but there was very little substance to the plot. The main couple got together quickly with very few issues. Later there were minor inconveniences that it appeared would be dramatized to create conflict, but no nothing happened. I typically hate pointless drama, but literally nothing else was happening. At the very least I expected there to be something.

There’s a love triangle tag, but that’s a vast overstatement. Rather than a love triangle, it’s more there’s the main couple, and some other guy that the MC was never interested in. Some people definitely prefer that (love triangles are not for everyone), but personally I would never consider this an actual love triangle. For that I think there would have had to been some type of relationship between the MC and glasses guy. But they barely had a single conversation with each other. How was I supposed to care that the glasses guy “liked” the MC? How was I supposed to believe he felt anything more than shallow interest and sexual attraction to him??

This is 50 chapters but they are incredibly short, so the plot is essentially nonexistent and rushed. The side couple had more depth, but I still hated them. On the bright side I was able to read this in less than four hours so that’s a win.

And I question the purpose of that trash side couple. If the author wanted to write about a toxic couple like that, annex them to their own series where they can get proper development. Don’t shove them in to this series centered on a more simple, sweet summer romance. I think a dynamic like that has the potential to be a decent toxic yaoi series, but that would require actual character development, actual screen time. Not 10 rushed chapters that are mostly the characters fighting or having sex.

I would have rather those two characters be completely absent from the story and for all that screen time to be spent on developing the main couple.

Tbh I will probably forget everything about this manhwa in a few months. Maybe even in a few weeks tbh. There are just very few distinguishing features about it, and it had an overall lackluster, messy execution.

Anyways, I guess go listen to kitsch by ive

I really loved reading this. The art is wonderful, the plot is intriguing. There are a lot of comedic moments, but there is also a lot of depth. Plus “comedy with dark moments” reminds me of another series I love, comes in threes. While political struggles might not be the forefront of the plot, I like that they aren’t ignored. Additionally, this manhwa does a great job weaving together the “chosen one” plot and political struggles with sunwon’s relationship with the other characters

While Vercion and other characters project their ideals of god and fate onto him, Albis and risa see him as a person, as sunwon. If/when sunwon is exposed as not being a god, those two will still support him and stand by his side.

I love the relationship between Albis and sunwon. Their moments are sweet.

Vercion is kind of scary.

Of course this manhwa isn’t perfect and there’s minor things I could critique, but it’s definitely really good. I’m looking forward to future chapters and seeing how the plot develops
