If y'all don't see just how much Hwaryun has grown since the start of the story, then I don't know if you will ever be able to see it. This entire chapter illustrates Hwaryun's tremendous growth as a character. For the first time, he is being honest with Suu about his true feelings. All of his life, he has kept every thought, feeling, and urge to himself. For the past 140 chapters, Hwaryun has not once spoken about his true feelings towards Suu to Suu directly. He has expressed gratitude towards Suu. Do you know of any other chapter in which Hwaryun does this? Lmfao. There is none (or at least to my current knowledge). Understandably, he resorted to methods to deceive and use Suu, but he has chosen to be honest and vulnerable before Suu in order to overcome this barrier.
I will now transcribe my interpretation of Hwaryun's perspective in the last few scenes and lines of Ch.141:
"I won't apologize for what I've done to you because I know that I do not regret my decision. In fact, I would make the same decision again if I had to relive the past. At the same time, I know that you have wronged me, but I do not blame you or hold you against your decision to attempt murder on me. I understand that your circumstances would have required you to do it over again if you were given the chance to relive the past. We are but only human. Even though we have wronged each other, I still wish to be by your side. I was a lost, wounded man and it was you who found and healed me. While I wandered aimlessly in a vast land full of sand, it was you who lead me to an oasis to feed my tired and deprived soul. It was you who brought life and color into my dull, grey world. No matter how badly we may have hurt each other, please stay by my side. Please save me from my own insecurities and fears by being there for me, by being my anchor. While I cannot offer you apologetic words, for these empty words would only be lies, I can only move forward with you by showing you my honest self. I do not wish to lie to you anymore. This is the best promise I can make to ensure that I don't hurt you again: to give you my sincere heart."
Y'all saying "toxic this," "manipulative that" in the chat, but where's all the homies congratulating Hwaryun's immense development lmfao. If y'all think this is toxic, then I have no words. Period. Even the heavenly dragon lord can't save y'all. Also, where is all the appreciation for Suu's character development??? I hardly see any. Suu has rarely ever expressed his desperation to be with Hwaryun. It's not typical for a Suu to even show this much vulnerability. We should be singing fucking hallelujah because this is something worth celebrating.
So, here goes:
