I think he might’ve known the whole time. He probably knew when he was told what his special abilities were since they’re the exact same ones his past lover had before he died.
He also has said certain things to Lee that make it seem like he knows. He brought up how Lee was acting like he already had one foot in the grave, like he already knows he’s going to leave him.
But, I’m only on chapter 56, so maybe I’m wrong and you know more than me.

this was such a great read even tho every minute i was at the edge of my seat hoping and praying their happiness would last forever. it was so scary whenever they looked like they were having fun i would try to think of the worst case scenario. the author really did their research before writing this cuz i can really feel like im reading a story set in that time that was why it felt so real and i felt so connected to the characters. this is so pure and heart warming i kinda hope the author wins an award for this or something.
