I don’t know if it’s just me, but when the partner of someone that’s gay says “ I’m not attracted to men, just blah blah blah” it just seems like they don’t see their partner as a guy. You can’t say you love them, but refuse to actually see them as a full men. But that’s just me （￣へ￣）
If you check on each LGBTQ meaning plus the others, Kei is Pansexual, he's only attracted to shoichi as he is, not minding if he was man or woman. But i do get your point, it is very confusing sometimes. I guess when it is your first being attracted to someone and realize that they are a guy the usual repulse is, " why should i be attracted, we're both guys" but Kei brushed it off immediately and followed his heart. Also, he is used of being called weird hahahah
yes~thank you. kei's indifference to his partner's gender means he might identify as being pan. there is more to sexuality than being straight, gay, or bi. not only is it difficult for some people to put a label on their romantic and sexual feelings towards others, it isn't fair to expect them to do so.
i also just wanted to add onto this that most of us live in societies where being straight, gay, or bi are understood as valid sexualities (valid not in terms of acceptance but just that they exist) but knowledge outside of the lgbtq community about other sexualities is very small to none. so to expect kei to know what words to use for himself after being with women most of his life and then falling for soichi is unrealistic
Ahhh! That's another point there. I appreciate this interaction we have here. It's a good way for us yaoi fans to be not just mere fans but to be learning the way of the gae. I made it a point to myself to learn the LGBTQ things as a way to understand what i am reading and to merge with the author's ideas.
By the last chapter, it was also stated that Kei and Shoichi went abroad to marry, and that man x man relationship in Jp is still taboo. Its a way of introducing the differences.
yes, i agree! i was glad the author made kei so carefree in terms of accepting his own feelings but still showed how society affects people being able to love freely. soichi's internal conflict and the fact they had to move abroad so their relationship could be legal, added some complexity
