Monster hikaru, in the long run, will defy its nature of being a worthless void, because the longer he resides in human hikaru's body, the more he learns the value and the meaning of life. He soon realizes his sole purpose of owning Hikaru's body, and that is to stay by Yoshiki's side, a wish the human Hikaru might have wished for before he died in the mountains.
Yoshiki on the other hand, who romantically fell in love with Human Hikaru, will instead, develop a deeper onnection towards new "Hikaru". A connection that is beyond romantic love. It's even greater to what he felt for his dead best friend, and these feelings can transcend life and death, and calling it "love or like" is an understatement.
Yoshiki as now a mixed being (still human tho) and Hikaru as an evil monster/god, will be an invincible duo who won't care about what the villagers think, going around closing spirit holes and beating up impurities with their paranormal team. Yoshiki and Hikaru may act bolder and more comfortable with each other in school, and a bit "sus" at some point in front of their friends and family. It may look gay. But it's not gay. It's just the way they are.
Anyway, the company, after finding out some paranormal shit happening more frequently, haunts down monster Hikaru. They try to exorcise him, sending monster Hikaru back to the afterlife or darkness. Yoshiki does all his might to stop "Hikaru" from disappearing.
During the process, Yoshiki crosses over the line between life and death, and sees the real Hikaru, his dead best friend's spirit. They might have a conversation, like an epiphany, talking about their childhood. At one point, a hint of confession might happen. Yoshiki longs to die so he can be together with Hikaru in "paradise."
But then, suddenly, "Hikaru" calls out to him in his wiggly tentacles monster form. Yoshiki struggles with a decision, and relives the moment he spends with monster Hikaru. In the end, he chooses the monster Hikaru, and mixes with him completely.
Yoshiki won't survive. He leaves the mortal world with "Hikaru". The two of them die, their family and friends grieving for the loss of two teenagers in their small town.
Monster Hikaru disappears and goes back to the mountain as a god/spirit or whatever his original form is. Yoshiki's soul comes with him. There is a tree in the mountains where their names are written. A sunflower grows at the roots in the summer and it never dies until winter.
The end.
(Cue Yoshiki and Hikaru dueting the choir song as the credits roll)

Fucking hell whatever their relationship is right now, and whatever their relationship could be on the future, with or without label, romantic or platonic, nephew or uncle, lovers, or whatever, I'm just rooting for the both of them to be happy! To continue seeing each other. To eat together. To meet and to talk. TO BE IN EACH OTHERS LIVES

I had high hopes for this. I was a bit disappointed tho. great smut. Attractive characters. But overall it was pretty shallow. Heavy themes of PTSD, death, drug abuse and SA were handled lightly.
To start with, I'm a little confused about the world building. What country are they in? Why is there an ocean nearby? Is this a city or a country side? What's their nationality? Is Diego a college student playing football who owns an Airbnb?
Jayden met Diego for like 4 days ago and it was love, and so they had sex and acted lovely dovey after the sex. And then 2 days later after Daniel appeared, Jayden realized he loved Diego after all and he wanted to forget his dead crush. So the self-realization magically cured Jayden's PTSD. He even stopped therapy. Also. I don't really see the point of the SA? Bro, it was unnecessary.
I wish the author focused more on Jayden's character development and his healing from PTSD. Story could've been written better if there was less sex and more deep conversations with Diego. Like adults to adults. I wanted to read heartfelt words from Diego, giving Jayden comfort. After the brief confession, they could've gotten to know each other better and talked about something meaningful. Or like going on dates through a time skip or like the seasons changing in short panels of them together.
But no.
Diego, during 10+ chapters, acted like a high schooler blushing for his crush. Jayden solely realized his "want to change" by himself, with the help of his bearded friend and the random appearance of Daniel. Diego was there as the ball of sunshine and his smiley existence. That was it.
Why is Diego the title when it was all about Jayden anyway? Diego coincidentally just looked like Matthew. He was your typical clingy puppy seme, that's it, but I didn't see his significant role in the story. Diego just appeared as a replacement for Matthew.
Title should've been "Matthew"
Anyway. That's just my complain because I had expectations that weren't met in 25 chapters. Should've been 50 chapters.

Bro same because I came here with “that’s an interesting premise” and came out with “well that was rushed and unnecessary” like, Daniel didn’t even get shit for his actions and why was the scene between them so long… it could’ve been alluded to we didn’t have to see that. And wdym he was going to therapy but he never told the therapist his reason for needing therapy so he could heal from it??? Just disappointing for something that could’ve been good
Read this in one sitting and I can say that it's the perfect day I've picked this up. OMG. The timing is just right, right exactly when they met again. it felt like a movie. Damn What a ride. I can't imagine how you guys read this while waiting for each chapter coz I think it wouldn't feel the same as reading it all continuously??? Anyway. I loved it. Wanna know what happens next.
You don’t know just how lucky u are ╥﹏╥
