I don't see why it's wrong to like a newer character that has some good qualities. It doesn't mean you want the heroine to end up with him. Perhaps it just means you don't want him to get hurt. I also feel like she is more normal and doesn't want innocent people killed, not that she is favoring the new quirky guy. I can understand and appreciate that. I really like Shinpei, but I truly wish he didn't kill without discernment.
