its also really weird to see someone who was clearly not exposed to/knowledgeable about american culture and didn’t really do much research about the black experience/culture and gangs/crime in america write a story about an american prison. like- c’mon prisons are kinda what america is known for (the US has 22% of the worlds prison population, even though the US only accounts for like- 4% of the worlds population).

like- they aren’t human. they have a completely different worldview and an entirely different set of ethics and morals. what is evil, to a dragon? they eat humans, humans kill and utilize their parts to craft better weapons/armor. one is a food, the other a resource. they both kinda need each other. humans lack any real *specific* predators, but this type storyline gives us one (albeit fanciful). i’m reaaaaallly trying to like this series. the concept is great. i’ve read other i’ve seen time-traveling MLs before and they’re typically fun, but this series is flavorless. idk what it is, but this series is like eating saltines, a dry and flavorless cracker. (〜￣△￣)〜

i rarely see authors add spines to feline-hybrids (if you know what i mean), but knotting is everywhere. i’m not sayin “oh damn i wanna see some spine action” but it’s just weird that there’s like a 70/30 shot of a canine hybrid being able to knot in a story in their human form, but the tiger/leopard/house-cat characters? damn near zero, and when there ARE spines, 9/10 they’re in their animal form.

listen i understand the idea. i see the concept. the FMC has gone mad as a result of all the shit she went through, which is a valid response to the trauma.. the MMC swooping in and being like “:) let’s help each other. i wanna be king. you want revenge.” but this poor girl is still skin and bones and is SEVERELY shaken up. there’s no one at the manor who pulled the FMC aside and was like “hey pookie, i know you want revenge but you need to be healthy first-“ it’s just speedrunning the plot. who cares if her body holds up? clearly the MMC doesn’t. she is a tool. the FMC is like “we can use eachother” but there are no fair terms to this deal. she is not his equal, they both know that. without him she’d be sent back to the house that abused her doomed to die a tragic death because women in this world seemingly don’t have rights, and without her the MMC would only have to hold off on usurping the thrown for a little bit longer. see how those aren’t equal? lol.
