yk i’m a friends to lovers freak, and my biggest problem with this is how the friends to lovers part of this feels more like a set up than an actual plotline. set up in the sense that this was meant to be more of a shorter story.. i didn’t really get to enjoy the tension or savor their “friendship but we’re in love” stage, it’s like i’m being told it but i’m not SEEING it. especially with them not even talking for 5 years, coulda been a great opportunity for a slower burn with them reconnecting, building their relationship, maybe even some conflict too?? but it went too fast and felt too superficial to me. so sad cus im such a freak for possessive clingy bestfriend trope.
one thing i love about this is the lack of mental age gap between love interests. like yes he’s like idk thousands but she’s beyond grown in terms of lifetimes and i think i prefer that pairing over her thinking a kid is cute and then marrying the kid who was genuinely that age the entire time
