Nope. Cults like that are more common than you thought. I immediately thought of Japanese cult's Happy Science when reading this manga for the first time.

In all seriousness, it seems like the mother might be terrified of her husband. She doesn't seem like a zombie but she does seem mentally unstable. The son/older brother, I'm not 100% sure. As an elder sibling, I can't get past how cold it is to let more Damien struggle, but if he's also been traumatized and/or experimented on or something, I guess I have to feel bad for him too.

The new dude has blond / ginger hair and the mother also but she in her teen years has wine brown hair and the father (mc) has bluish black hair
So if that theory would be correct she had to dye her hair blond in the future or go back to her natural hair

it was somewhere that MC got his unempathetic nature from his dad. I’m not saying that the orange guy is the same since he helps the girl out many times but it’s the way he really calculates things if that makes sense? (like when he first saved her when the bully tried hitting her with a mop- or at the end of ch 25 where he just stood there hidden after she got beat up by her bullies in the alleyway). The way that he always looks like he’s seriously thinking about something when his friendly persona drops for a moment makes me curious of his past. (But then again he could just relate to her heavy)
Not only that! i find it interesting how both the MC and the orange haired guy are finding ways to teach the girl to imrpove herself (through makeup, standing up for herself, etc). They have different motives but the parallels are def interesting
pfft even the goofy way he dealt with the mma fighter reminds me of the mc- but it just makes me even more curious? How is he so strong/ so quick on his feet? I thought he said he was skinny and scrawny in his last school? maybe he got good at dodging to evade bullies but it’s so goofy ripping off his clothes that it almost feels like a scenario from the peoples was playing out in their world
