wait wait wait wait wait, I'm lost I'm so freaking lost. doumeki lost his memories of the boss? wtf I don't understand that part, and what is that part with the bird? OMG THE HECK, THE BOSS LOVES DOUMEKI SO STOP PUSHING HIM OUT, HE PISSES ME OFF SO MUCH I REALLY LIKE HIM BUT AHHHHH ENOUGH ALREADY
Hey!
If I understood the last chapter, it was Yashiro who 'lost' his memory. Nanahara and Sugimoto talk about the fact that they do not believe it though. I think Yashiro wanted to protect Doumeki from the very beginning (or at least he realized it when one of Chestnut' guys tried to shoot Doumeki - Ch20 page 22). Yashiro wanted Doumeki to have a peaceful and safe life with his family. Besides, he was afraid of his love and tenderness. Yashiro was terrified by the fact that Doumeki is so important to him. Doumeki is persistent and he will follow him everywhere and always. That's why when they were in the hospital it was the perfect opportunity for Yashiro to give Doumeki a chance to live a normal, save life and at the same time free himself from Doumeki and his boundless love. When Doumeki heard that Yashiro does not remember him, he said 'I understand'. I think he is sure Yashiro has enough of him (although he was sure he meant a lot for him - see Ch27 page 3) and he felt defeated. He loves Yashiro, that's for sure. But I do not know what he was thinking at that particular moment. Resignation, pain, longing, loss - I think he felt it all.
If you ask what is this bird about - When Yashiro talked to Kageyama, he compared Doumeki to a small baby bird (Ch28, pages 31-33). When a bird hatches from an egg, it attaches itself emotionally to the first person / animal it sees. It feels a very strong bond regardless of what this person or animal is. When Doumeki came out of prison, it's like he hatched again. Yasiro was the first person to whom he felt such attachment and duty of care. I think Yashiro does not understand Doumeki's motives, or (what is more presumable) he lies to himself because he's afraid of Doumeki's love. We can see the bird probably from the very beginning of the manga or something like that. We see a bird - Doumeki - grow up and become independent and when Yashiro breaks his contact with him and he has to deal alone now, he spreads his wings and leaves his leader, the person he was following - Yashiro. See Ch35 pages 35-37. At least for now, because I do not believe he will forget about Yashiro - his great love - and will not try to be with him again.
This is what I think. Of course, I can be wrong, so ask others for their opinion. But I hope I helped you a little bit. (●'◡'●)ノ
Yep, we know Yashiro is lying. Doing nothing but looking at him, thinking of lap? I just can't see such a twist, because the whole story has been about Yashiro being unable to deal with his feelings in any other way than the way he is.
And the author loves suspenseful twists, having something happen and going back chapters of years to explain it.

Creepily awesome
