It has some sad moment, but overall it leaves a very positive and truly bright impression (at least for me). I'd say, don't leave it in the "want to read" for too long. You might have a good cry while reading, but you will leave feeling happy and wholesome.
just too bad that the author has not made any other mangas...hope he/she's doing great.
