Why are people so harsh on Tess? This time is not that bad. It's understandable that she couldn't assimilate properly since there's no one to guide her and that fking teacher didn't take any safety measures. So it's not her fault that Art got injured. So why do people keep saying that they hate Tess for being a damsel in distress? Are female love interests not allowed to be in distressed? Just because they're in danger, doesn't make them weak. Neither did she make a stupid decision or something. Sometimes, things just get out of control. That's all.

Isogai is the kind of person I would hate in real life. If I ever had a friend that just barges in my private time before asking or informing me first, that bitch would have to sleep on the streets. Idc how close we are, you never come to someone's house without asking them first if they have time for you.

I know she has her own problems and stuff, but this is actually more or less her fault lol. She put herself in this situation, she didn't make any effort in trying to know what kind of person Soowon is before revealing her secrets/ambitions to him. She just assumed that Soowon would take her side because she knew they have the same bloodline, she took it for granted and projected her hatred through Soowon. She thought "oh I hate being in this situation, so of course he would hate it too". She should've been more cautious and tried to test the water before directly mentioning that she knows his secret. Of course he's gonna try and kill her, when you think about it in hindsight, he only has two choices, either cooperate or silence her. She had 50/50 chance of dying yet she didn't take any security measures and stupidly thought that she had the upper hand in the conversation.
She said she was prepared to leave everything behind, but seeing how she's still trying to survive, guess that's all her convictions amount to.
I'm not saying she deserves to be in this situation, but what else was she expecting lol.

There's nothing wrong with romance subplot in a shounen. If done properly, it could be a good storyline and character progression for both leads. The only reason most people hate it is because most authors are incapable of making good female leads so they end up either a burdensome damsel-in-distress, or straight up annoying and clingy. Don't blame the characters, blame the authors. Especially authors who don't respect their own characters and made the female heroines only to flatter the MC's ego.

I wasn't talking about Tess, I don't read the novel and have no idea how the romantic subplot is going to be like, so that's why my title is "Out of topic" because it's not about this manhwa.
I was talking about how so many comments before me saying that they'll drop the manhwa if there's romance involved. And all I wanted to say is that, romance subgenre in shounen is not a bad thing. There's no need to hate or drop a manhwa/novel just because it has few hints of romance in it. What's bad is how most shounen authors don't know how to execute 'romance' properly. They're more interested in making their male MCs look cool instead of having them communicate or making an effort to understand their relationship with female characters. Authors just want their female characters to suddenly like the MC for no valid reason and doesn't try to justify why they're falling for someone. Authors portray these girls like they're trophies or some sort of prizes to be won. Like collecting pokemon or something. That's why most harem shounen are all about various stereotypes of girls like the tsundere-girl, the shy-girl, the best-friend, the ice-princess etc.. and none of them have character development, because their job is to only either fawn over the MC or be weak in order for MC to save them.

The coach is either a sadist or he just doesn't really take his players seriously. Out of all the coaches in the series, Yamagata is the worst one.
He doesn't communicate with the players, he doesn't tell them his thoughts, he doesn't give feedback nor comment on their strengths and weaknesses, he doesn't give pep-talk, neither does he motivate them, also he even withheld information from them. If you compare him to brilliant coaches like Ukai-coach from Haikyuu or the coach from Daiya no A, Yamagata is like F-tiered.
Every time he makes a decision like sending mc to handball, or telling setter not to toss to igarashi, he never explains why he did those things and just expect the kids to be able to figure out by themselves. Because this is a manga, so the players figured it out, but irl he would've just left them hanging and letting them hesitate themselves and it might lower their self-confidence.
Like this match, he already knows the coach and his style of play, yet he never told his players at all. They were given no information about their next match. Again, he left them hanging. When Matsutaka asked him to please say something because he's helpless and doesn't know how to handle the situation, the fking coach just stayed quiet and ignored him, and directly substituted the guy for the next rotation. If it were any other players, their self-esteem would've dropped way way lower.
He is basically emotionally abusing these teenage boys. While other coaches care for their players' mental well-being and tries hard to solve in-team concflict, he just ignores every fking thing that's happening. He didn't reproach the ace for looking down on his team members, nor did he try to talk to the third years on their opinions about who should be regulars. He's a fking newcomer coach, he doesn't know the team and the relationship dynamics between the members well enough, but he didn't even try to make any effort to communicate with them. Fck this man.
It would've been fine if the beginning didn't set him as some sort of great reliable coach and the pillar of the 1st years motivation to enter the school. But he didn't do jackshit and he's very underwhelming.

Alberu smiled and muttered that he really thought that he had become the sun now. But he shook his head and said no. Alberu raised his head and said that he was the moon. He was not the sun, but the moon that rose in the sky. Others might think that he was the sun, but for him, he was the moon.
