Coming from a black person from the Caribbean Imma let the author Cook. I can feel their good intentions and the message they wanna bring across like with the other story arcs it's just the execution for this one is kinda extreme

Good intentions? If the author had good intentions, they would have done more research prior to creating this chapter. Instead they:
1.) Portrayed the 1/2 black person as a loud, arrogant, and obnoxious bully with caricature-like features. Meanwhile the 1/2 white teacher was shown as good-looking, educated, and classy.
2.) Created a fictional setting where black foreigners are a majority group in a Korean town. Those foreigners still wouldn’t have any power, especially in a country where the beauty standard is to have straight hair and pale skin.
3.) Seemingly chose a random city in the U.S with a large black population and proceeded to stereotype the people there.
4.) Had the teacher try to correct the student’s ignorant mentality by… being racist? They are just two pieces of the same shit pie.
And I am sure throughout this entire thing, the author will not once call out the effects of white supremacy and how it formed modern-day racism. It’s just piss poor all around

Coming from a first generation Ghanaian American this kind of response to this kind of thing is apart of the problem. There are no good intentions in this. It could be said that they were trying to show a different side of a racism, showing that everyone can be racist but it didn’t take AT ALL.
The author isn’t cooking and the execution wasn’t extreme, it was wrong. What the author ultimately did here was be racist to justify racism. It’s as simple as that.

Good Intentions my foot, now I’m not from East Harlem but I’m LITERALLY from NYC and let’s be real here. I want you to look up East Harlem and see how GENTRIFIED the neighborhood is than see how actually dumb this is. This situation could be applicable if the racism happened in A. NYC B. A place not in Manhattan let’s get real… C. Never. But no it’s a small foreigner minority group in a Korean village.

Whew that was sad wasn't enough to make me cry but still sad. I'm kinda glad it ended the way it did. Give me all the tragedy and sad ending Idk I love-hate feeling that void in my heart after a sad ending story ( ̄∇ ̄")
