I thought I was the only one that found it so funny

IKR why was he so gentle/calm in the questioning? I mean he might believe just asking would work anyway with AJ, and he doesn't even need torture to get the info out, but come on, not even some intimidating?
I guess he's a bit "softer" than I imagined, Idkw but I thought he would be a bit less collected. But he is, and I wonder why. Is that because of AJ? It feels a bit strange to reveal a romantic interest now if the story is close to finishing.

It’s not romantic. AJ is his favourite of the bunnies. Think of it as a golden child situation. Your golden child can do no wrong. AJ left him, AJ was bratty and violent, AJ was drugged up to the max, and now AJ planted a bug. AJ has been consistent with his drug use until recently so he knows how to act like an addict doing anything for just a little more. The reason assface believed it is because how else would AJ get a bug? Only someone in the underworld would “help” AJ or so is his assumption. Also, he trains his bunnies through fear. They’re all too shit scared of him to lie and potentially end up dead or worse, taking all of the violent and sick clients without a break back to back until they kill themselves. He’s not trusting AJ. He’s just too arrogant to think that AJ could ever get clean and ever get out and he’s too cynical to believe a person outside of the underworld would help an underdog prostitute junkie. He’s being soft cause he’s trying to manipulate AJ. The whole abuse/lovebomb cycle only works if you show tenderness when things get too tense. It’s scarily realistic how this author is portraying these characters.
