It's been a while since I've read all the chapters, but the way it was worded as sanjou being the perfect candidate doesn't sound like Kabura being in love type of situation, it sounds more like he has a plan and sanjou fits the bill on completing it. But I could be wrong as in that flashback Onoe and Sanjou seemed rather similar, so he could have been his first love, but it does seem like something pretty bad happened in the past between them. I do also hate the thought that Sanjou might have been his first love, but I am hoping he didn't lie to Onoe either.
