There are a lot of reasons.
The idea of obsessive love is appealing from a distance to people with low self-esteem who just want to feel special.
Ilay is there to be someone hot that you want to "fix" and teach to be better.
Like a lot of men, Ilay is emotionally stunted and violent, which is scary but not unusual. The emotionally stuntedness lets people infantilize him ("boys will be boys") and excuse his behavior. People want to believe that bad men can be good.
I like obsessive people but not the type that, you know, wants to keep us locked for good or break our ankle . I don’t like ilay’s behavior but I can’t deny that he makes me want to see what happens in the end.
Oh, yeah, it's definitely outside of my comfort zone, but it's definitely an interesting story with beautiful art.
hes a really complex character. He only changed for Tae but hes still the crazy rick for everyone else. Novel ilay hits different you would understand his personalities better bc he really has this mysterious vibes
