One of my favourite things about this story is the fact that the characters (especially the men) don’t look like perfect little boys, they look like men!

Does the family know for sure how she was treated? I assume that they know that the step mom wasn’t very good but do they truly know how bad it was? It doesn’t seem like they really got involved or investigated it I could’ve missed something.
