I dont understand

It’s just that,
In the span of 30-50 years, a god is born in the human world marked with a jewel engraved on their bodies. They are to live as a normal human up till the age of 18, and then they merge with nature.
This is the story of Tarou and Tomoya. They were born the exact same day, same hospital and they’ve always been together. They’re even neighbors and go to the same school.
As they kept growing, people stopped seeing Tomoya by himself and started seeing his divine side, that’s why they prayed every time they saw them walking by. Tarou was the only one who still treated him the same, as his best friend.
The time kept on passing, and Tomoya could barely leave his house, since it was burdening to go outside and be treated differently.
On their last day as 17 years old, they went on a trip, both knowing fully well that Tomoya would disappear on the very next day. A cute granny who used to have a god as her twin sister, left them alone with the keys to the state, saying she had a job to do.
At night, as soon as they turned 18, Tarou couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed about the thought of his beloved “friend” gone from this world, so much that he thought of killing Tomoya and then killing himself. In unspoken words, they conveyed their love and embraced each other for the first and the last time. Tarou probably thought it was selfish and cruel when Tomoya told him “I love you”, since their time together would no longer exist, but he also knew he meant it, and that he loved him too.
Tomoya disappeared a bit before Tarou woke up, leaving the jewel which was engraved into his physical body next to him.
Tarou then explains he’s a “Beholder”, a person that’s born at the same time as the god and is meant to stay close by their side without fearing them, but treating them as a normal human being till the very end.
He also explains that it’s a custom for the god to leave their jewel to the beholder so they can go and put it up on a shrine.
The granny comes back and tells Tarou that everything was going to be ok, while she showed him a random jewel he could put up in the shrine instead, so he could keep Tomoya’s, just as she did with her sister’s jewel, turning it into a necklace.
At the very end, we can see a Tarou in on the post festival celebration, watching his classmates dancing around a bon fire, wondering what would it be if Tomoya was there. He’s invited by girls to dance, but he felt a little pull on his sleeve. He refuses telling them someone already asked him, and then he said “That was unexpected. So you were the jealous type, huh?” Knowing that it was Tomoya who pulled on his sleeve, meaning he was still watching over him.
So yeah it’s bittersweet and sad and no cap I had to stop from time to time while typing this bc WHEW tears (sorry for spelling or grammar mistakes too I’m still crying). But that’s basically the story. I hope it helped.
The art, the story, the characters.. Thats it
