I didn't think she would actually die cause they hardly ever make the good looking girls with major presence die in such stories (usually it's a newly introduced rando or old man/woman) so I was surprised. She was my favourite female character too damn it. I thought she would just get replaced. MC could not have predicted the dragon fireball but I find it a bit contrived that he didn't think of any other strategies for an escape mission not an annihilation one. The death was obviously set up so our protag can power up, but the way it happened wasn't so much a 'nothing could be done' situation and him just coincidentally getting all his powerup skills upon his emotional breakdown with the foreshadowing of him combining skills is just writing that's a little weak.

han didnt want eolka to follow him in the shrine, and it was kind of a premonition when he told her to be ware of her surroundings.
and for his power up, i thought he would go against impossible odds without using berserker, and i think it would ve happened even if eolka didnt die, bc the upcoming mobs were extremely difficult and he had no one to help him.
and for eolka, i think she would rather die than be replaced and be placed in the 2nd team
