Well, it was his decision to take the kid too abruptly that led to the kid running away. Should've done it slowly by introducing himself slowly and bonding with them first. He did his best but it was the wrong approach, hence leading to this.

I think you also forgot he was guilt tripped by the mother to give in. He doesn't know a thing about the brothers' life, all he has is the idea, what it all looks from the outside, yet guilt tripped Euihyun. As supposedly the adult who left them, if Euihyun won't go to them, for obvious reasons that he is just a half brother, then why didn't HE bring the child to Euihyun to visit?
