I keep wanting to approve of Pray. But I still am not sure if he's gonna be like, "Everything I've said is a lie! You're weak and pathetic! But I love you and say supportive things so that you'll become dependent on me even though I'll never show you who I really am!"
But fingers crossed that he ends up being moderately compassionate for real.

I like the optimistic outlook of the MC. She really is making the most out of her poor lot in life. She was already content with being a slave her whole life, so it's not like it's a downgrade. Her two years as a princess were shitty because she was married to an awful, old man and no one cared about her. At least now she is finally getting acknowledged for her hard earned skills which enables her to find her life experiences more worthwhile. I don't think she likes the archduke yet. She seems to just be doing her best to be useful so that she can stay alive and happens to be making observations about the archduke's behavior along the way. Even when she isn't being motivated be death threats, I think it is commendable that her personality is one where she would willingly help others who are in need. I don't think her compassionate and honest behavior makes her weak, rather I think it shows how strong she is to be able to persevere as a person of integrity even when she is in disadvantages or scary situations.
Also, I really hope she wasn't forced to have sex with her slimey husband, Gilbert.

This makes me think of that story about the pedigree male cat in China that was let out of his cage one night by the caretakers at a kennel. He mated with 5+ other cats and had to be put on a glucose drip when they found him.
Here's the UK Daily Mail link:

1. Ga-Ryun is only 8 years older than Lok Heun.
2. Ga-Ryun doesn't have any concubines or an empress. That shitty lady who whips her maids is just a female suitor.
3. Ga-Ryun has no children. The Fourth Prince was his precious little brother.
4. Ga-Ryun wants Lok Heun to survive the demons lair but it's unclear whether he thinks that is likely to happen.
5. Ga-Ryun may or may not know that Lok Heun is a girl. The dragon referred to her as the one he loves most and his future empress.
6. Ga-Ryun is that "Celestial Maiden" Lok Heun met in the temple when she was younger and he correctly identified her as a girl at the time.

I don't think he identified Lok Heun clearly, because Lok Heun was "raised" as a boy by his father, so he was wearing a boy's clothes. If he was able to see through that though, I'm not sure...
Kudos for summarizing though, it all gets confusing when I scroll too fast for want of immediate satisfaction.

That is possible. In the translation here (I've not read any other translation so I'm not sure if there are other ways this statement could be phrased), the maid says, "She's the one His Majesty favors the most, right now." Then the maid says, "The unnies are saying that she'll most likely be the Empress." So, I took that to mean she was a suitable marriage candidate to whom he has paid the most attention. But it may indeed be that she is his consort already. I'm looking forward to finding out which! :D
Why is no one ever like, "No thanks, I won't fight you. I can't win against you. I know my limits and don't want to give you my possessions."
Its a Chinese manhua, what do you expect? Logic doesn't apply here.
