Can someone pls explain to be what happened until now I'm lost asf and after reading until ch 50 sumn I skipped to the lastest chapter I don't get shit omg what the hell and why doesn't lau stay at nigjt to catch whoever is tattoing xin in the act or something??
I mean if u skip over 20 chs no shit ur gonna be confused a lot happened between those two points. also to answer ur question: man ive read ts at least 5 times and brother i have no idea why lau couldnt stay either they try to brush it off in one ch by saying something like "oh but even if he stays theres no guarantee we can catch them" which okay sounds like bs to me. it makes more sense why they wouldnt have been able to catch them once u figure out who is actually doing the tattoo (which in ur case it looks like u dont know yet) but lau didnt know who was doing it either so idk why he didnt suggest that he couldve stayed.
but also keep in mind, idk if uve noticed all of the cameras in xin's room that the head family uses to monitor him. that means the head family is aware of whoever is coming in to tattoo xin at night and they arent doing anything to stop it for some reason. so either whoever is doing this is either doing it with permission from the head family or the head family cant stop them for some reason. so im guessing even if lau just stayed with xin at night, the tattoo culprit wouldnt come because theyre working with the head family and thereby know when lau is there thru the cameras. also frankly if the head family is doing this, (i dont wanna get too spoilery) but theres basically no stopping them. these are all just my guesses tho.
here's a chronological timeline up to chapter 55 if ur interested:
xin & lau meet as kids in the annex, along with their siblings who are the current heir and guardian
their siblings die because they went against the head family (we don't know what really happened yet, this is from context but it will be answered later)
xin & lau become heir and guardian
xin & lau go to school together
they have a huge fight (for unknown reasons but it'll be explained by ch 63)
5 yrs later, xin asks lau to come for his birthday and to investigate the tattoo (which was at the beginning of the story)
lau investigates
xin is getting worse and worse as the tattoo grows, he has enough ink in him to kill him
lau stays with xin one night, has a panic attack due to past trauma and runs away (s1 finale)
lau investigates on his own and he finds out this:
- chen atp seems like the most suspicious person. suna said she gave away the tattoo dye to him. but chen still wont tell what he's up to. alex (chen's guardian) is the most likely suspect in lau's mind.
- suna gave away the tattoo dye to chen in order to stand up to the head family, but she didnt know what happened to it afterwards. once she sees a photo of how large xin's back tattoo is she calls chen and says she has no intention of helping kill someone. (the tattoo ink has oleander in it which, when used in large amounts, can literally kill someone). so she asks chen for the tattoo dye back. he tells her to come get it and she gets trapped in his skyscraper. lau and fu rin come to rescue her.
- lau finds yajin holding a bunch of design papers for the tattoo. hes about to hit yajin when mali comes in and breaks his ribs. mali has been going out on nightly walks in order to work with the tattoo culprit to design the tattoo, he was threatened by the tattoo-er who he described as "a guardian taller & stronger than him and with glasses" (who does that sound like?). (lau didnt hear that last part, at this point he still assumes its alex doing the tattoo)
- lau goes back to chen's place. chen shows him alex, who is in a deep coma. *insert chen & alex back story*
