No he wasn't an office worker, he was a college student and it was a classmate. It was the guy who wanted his notes or something? Smth like that from an earlier point in the manga. In the manga he managed to avoid the flags but in the live action he fell for them, and then the guy was leaving Japan and he ran to the airport to meet him there and confess his love. It was so weird and forced. Totally out of character.
