Hyoseop didnt know Ano was his brother, and Andete assumed Hyoseop knew they were brothers since its quite well-known around america and all but Hyoseop didnt know about it even tho he lived in america because he was confined in an apartment.
When Hyoseop was 14, He was part of a team that joined in the first SS-CLass dungeon battle. During the battle, an Esper got severly injured and Hyoseop was guiding him. But physical guidance wasn't enough so the esper's brother demanded Hyoseop give more intimate guiding (but Hyoseop refused cuz he was 14) and then the Esper died, as he didn't get enough guiding. As a result, the brother of the now-dead Esper coerced Hyoseop to join his guild and be his guide as a "repayment for his mistakes" and he told Hyoseop messed up ideas like "Espers are the world's saviours" and "Guides are just their servants".. Hyoseop lived and thought that way until he was 19, when he was saved by one of the guild members who found out about his situation. Thats why Hyoseop had such a naive, obediant, and oblivious personality !!
