where are the people who are “excusing” jaekyungs actions? everyone is saying “this doesnt excuse his actions!” but im wondering who said that in the first place?
I've never seen someone directly saying he has the right to be a jerk because of xyz, but I've seen people countless times saying "you don't know what he went through" when other readers criticize Jaekyung for acting like an asshole. That, like it or not, is implying that whatever he went through makes it so that he's allowed to do as he pleases or at least, not be criticized because of it.
HOWEVER
Saying "this doesn't excuse his actions" has nothing to do with there being or there not being people excusing him, it has to do with how the narrative is doing something MANY authors do: trying to downplay all the bad things a MC did by showing things he went through in the past, make him look somewhat excusable, when he can only be forgiven with a proper apology and change. Most times when there's a flashback like this one, we won't be getting any sort of apology...
I'll be more than happy if I'm eventually proven wrong, but my hopes are very low.

It's like your favorite trash TV show, you hate the characters and yell at the TV, but still tune in every week for the drama lol

i used to be that way for baddies on zues network. stopped tuning in after a while and grew up. idk how that goes for bls though.
Honestly ur so right, i dont despise this story but im certainly not a fan. I mostly come here to leave commentary and read ppl lose their minds over fictional characters
so dans biological parents were nowhere to be found but dan had grandma. dan cant imagine a world without grandma.
jaekyungs mom left him, dad was a street head and neglected him, either way he didnt have a parent figure. so the elderly man in town took him to start boxing instead of stealing food, and thats why jaekyung relies so much on boxing to ‘stay alive’…
