I don't hate the guy though. MC atleast needs to know the ML's messy past. Ml would probably bury that kind of thing and hid it from MC. Rather than a 3rd party showing up ruining their life, it's better to hear it from a 3rd rate asshole and discuss it early on. This is why I prefer first love stories, they don't involve messy past relationships and are purer, I'm here more for the art. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

I prefer candy man although ML is also a yandere and their relationship was ridiculous at the very least it wasn't this absurd. The war, the death of soldiers, ultimately it was the emperor's fault. The way the story made daniel's death or even the soldiers like it was nothing to MC. Many people died because of the emperor's obsession with MC and now that they get to have a happy ending how do those people who lost their friends and families feel?

so disappointed with red hair. I thought he was a good person at least even if he hates MC he won't do something a 3rd rate villain would do. Good thing MC isn't someone who you can bully with force. Even if he can be swindled he won't be forced through coercion. To think red hair's like is something sinister to even implicate MC.

Why do people make fun of virgins in mangas? plus MC reacting that he had girlfriends and lost his virginity before isn't anything to be proud of. I hate it when MC reacted like it was shameful to not lose his virginity before losing his anal virginity.
I hate people who feel pride in the number of their past relationships and count of how many they bedded.

I hate it when all the girls he saved fall in love with him. I mean, Girl if the one who saved you were either an old man or your own men all they get are thanks. I'd rather the FL be his companion's daughter. The other girls' reason for falling in love is too shallow, unlike someone with whom he traveled with.

I prefer the daughter because the saving didn't happen one-sidedly. When MC was weak the daughter saved him now when he's strong he saved her and traveled together. Honestly the Poison girl and merchant girl wouldn't noticed MC if he were just a scribe but the Daughter saw the scribe in both his weak past as well as his current powerful self.
In the novel, Mc(lee hoyeol) controls the body but is affected by the subconscious personality of Grandfel unlike this manhwa it feels like MC and Grandfel are both conscious. Plus the comedy here should be MC being embarrassed by Grandfel's showmanship (aka his noble demeanor)
the comedy feels exaggerated with MCs facial expressions which makes MC looks lame rather than ordinary embarrassment of a former chunibyo.
It also feels like the manhwa ver. is making Jesse Haines seem like a heroine with the excessive beauty filter even though her presence in the novel was portrayed more of a childish curiosity for magic.
By the way, there's no romantic scenes anywhere in the novel nor MC simping deep inside. There's no usual girls falling in love by being saved. There's a balance of male and female characters(no annoying blushing heroines) in the novels and most feeling for MC is desire to be strong enough to stand by his side and gratitude.
Anyway 7/10 if you compare it to the novel, still tolerable since it has good art style just the interpretation of story is different.
