I know JGY said it on purpose but the thing is, he isn't really wrong. Everything he said was true.
Nie Mingjue was someone whom he looked up to, who defended him and paid no mind to his background and then that person goes and tells him the words he knows will hurt JGY the most. It was a real low blow of NMJ no matter how much I adore him.
Yeah, JGY was a little bitch and went way over board but NMJ isn't completely innocent here either. Everything was just either black or white to him when in reality things are rarely as simple as that.
They both made mistakes that tore up their relationship. In some ways that makes it even worse.

It's true, they both had faults

that what annoys me about people, JGY betray Mingjue TWICE not once and still Mingjue forgive him and gave him a chance to change. and what the asshole do?
bad mouth him and shit on his name in front of others, in other words, betray him YET AGAIN. I can only say JGY is a fucking dick asshole that should have been killed right there and then.
too bad he wasn't been killed.
the opposite, to JGY it was only black or white - it's either you do as he wants you to do or you against him. there is no in-between, while Mingjue despite been angry at his corruption facing them head-on and gives him a chance to change knowing the guy is bad but can maybe change. so actually Mingjue wasn't that "black or white" at all, if he was he never would have died by JGY after giving him a chance.

And JGY DID save Nie Mingjues life when he took a risk and killed Wen Ruohan to save him. He didn't have to do that. Or he could have done it AFTER Nie Mingjue dying in the fire palace at either his own or Wen Ruohans hands.
He wasn't always as villainous as he was at the end of it all. Maybe if they had told NMJ beforehand that JGY would go undercover to infilitrate the Wen sect and what he would have to do in order to do so, NMJ might have been more understanding (Lan Xichen certainly had no problems with that) and things might have turned out differently.

so what? Lan Xichen also has no problem with JGY protecting a mass murder psychopath to reach his corrupt goals. so Lan Xichen isn't even an example.
the only reason he saves him is to reach his goals of being the head clan, not for the sake of Mingjue. so no, he still an asshole in the past, and he still an asshole now, he didn't change much just like Mingjue. Mingjue was very clear about what he believe in! and JGY would have kill him at some point no matter what, cause JGY doesn't like people that support justice and not on 100% his side like brainwash Lan Xichen .
