There were two stories. Chapter 14 foreshadowed it and the extra complemented it. Yeon Ho was writing the story we've read. Remember he left the story open, just like the main story, and the fact that it was narrated in 3rd person shows he was talking about a story that wasn't his. In the extra, he mentions a dream, I think he was trying to make sense out of it. It has happened to me, my dreams are once in a while related, they have the same setting with a different outcome, like if it's giving me a second chance. I write it down and try to give it an ending during the day. Maybe he wanted to do the same. He wanted to give it closure, but I guess in the end he couldn't, so he left it open. This means, in real life they're fine. I don't know if they are still friends, or lovers~
In the story we were told, my theory is that Jae Ha died. He still went and run after Yeon Ho because Yeon Ho himself told him it was be the last time they saw each other, and Jae Ha couldn't accept it. Also, if he hadn't died, wouldn't Yeon Ho have a different memory of that day?? They talk so much about regret, I think if Yeon Ho hadn't told Jae Ha about his death, he wouldn't have been so desperate to meet him. Knowing how impulsive was Jae Ha about getting answers, do you think he would wait 10 years?? Yeon Ho wasn't rewriting the past, what he did happened in his timeline.
I don't know if Yeon Ho died. I hope he didn't. The story for me was about coping with the death of a dear friend/crush. It was closure for Yeon Ho, so if he dies once it's done, it'd be a crappy ending. But if he survives, then his expectations will be broken, will he live knowing he made Jae Ha run after him??? Well, he said he had no regrets... AND ALSO LETS THINK ABOUT THE POOR DAD T-T
That was logic me, now back to positive me.
Basically I refuse to believe the last chapters happened. Jae Ha listened to Yeon Ho, and he waits for him 10 years. Yeon Ho is hit by the truck, but survives. They talk about what happened and live their happy love life together.
Anyways, at least I'm convinced real them are close and happy (⌒▽⌒)
