This couple is so wholesome. I read the novel, and they’ve become one of my favorites.

The manhwa author did an excellent job of keeping us engaged in the plot. The uke has been a mess since chapter one, so I’m not surprised.

I liked this manhwa a lot! But OMG, it's by the same author as *Dawn of the Dragon*! I read Love Plan long ago and never realized that. Thank you to the comment section for pointing that out. Wow!

I read the novel and enjoyed it very much. I only skimmed the manhwa because the art is so so and the manhwa is boring in comparison to the novel. I wasn’t a fan of the art in season 1, and I’m still not now. Seme and uke looks great on the novel’s book cover, but the art for the manhwa is a disappointment.

I still have to read this. Does this mean you would recommend reading the novel instead of the manhwa?

Definitely, read the novel! The manhwa is a waste of time. The novel is extremely well written and funny. The seme and the uke are crazy about each other. It's cute.

I remember reading it on wattpad a long time ago, then I got the book, I will get the kindle version when its released. Online, I believe you could also find it on Scridb, or you can check booktoki468, and use the online translation tool. Hope it helps.

That was clear the moment he started killing and exiling the doctor’s family. There’s no redemption for this kind of character. Its either the doctor manages to escape or kill him or the dreaded Stockholm syndrome

I don’t see any redemption either. All the red flags and psycho semes bully, harass, and target ukes, but none randomly kill people just to torture and gaslight the uke. Let’s see how creative the author gets in making the story work.

I keep coming back to this manhwa, such a green flag in the yaoi world is an extinct species. Yoonsung is so adorable and gentle.

People are a bit obsessed with Emiliano, but in the novel, Ines is insanely obsessed with and in love with Carcel—Emiliano doesn’t even compare. The manhwa doesn’t convey that fact very well, so when I read the novel, I was like, "Wow, she’s f-word insane about him—it’s scary... (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ If he were to die and she regressed again, she would have turned into Chucky and stabbed the crown prince as a toodler."

    StoryofMinglan February 4, 2025 2:27 am

I think it’s the manhwa’s fault. They fooled everyone into thinking Ines met Emiliano, fell in love and ran away with him to avoid marrying the crown prince. Only in ch94 they hinted at the truth of how it all began. Even the novel author said in her Q&A that Ines was not in love with Emiliano when she ran away with him. She said Ines learned to love Emiliano while they were fugitives on the run and he was her only companion. If we look at the manhwa, they obscured the truth so people believe something different.

That’s why many avoid the manhwa or movie after reading the book. The manhwa did a very poor job imho, they make it so people believe Ines lost her mind for many years because of her love for the pure Emiliano. Anway, some manhwa fans are just fixated on Emiliano, ignoring that Ines clearly stated in the manhwa that she did everything to escape Oscar. There’s no real push and pull in her relationships until Carcel. In the novel, she goes crazy when Carcel "pushes." I started with the manhwa, then read the novel. She's cold to Carcel in the manhwa so I didn't expect her to be that obsessed and emotional with him in the novel. I was wow. The manhwa also fails to capture the depth of moments like Raul’s letter reading. It remains a good manhwa and people's comments make you want to read the book.

All of my fellow novel readers have indeed quit the manhwa. They were upset about quite a few things including the characterizations of both main characters and story development.

Yes, manhwa-Ines was very cold to Carcel. That’s why when the season 2 premiere came and she was all concerned about his hand injury, some of my fellow novel readers who were still around at the time wondered if she was possessed by someone else. LOL They remembered in ep43 she was smirking and saying how Emiliano was the only man she knows who wouldn’t cheat on his pregnant wife compared to Carcel whom she believes would cheat. She looked like she absolutely didn’t care about Carcel in that episode when in the novel, she was uneasy thinking of Carcel with another woman. Then the very next scenes we see of her in the manhwa are at the admiral banquet where she gets upset over two men gossiping about Carcel, feels slight jealousy over Maria talking with Carcel then feelings of concern over Carcel’s hand injury. My fellow novel readers wondered where did all that abrupt concern come from with manhwa-Ines when she seemed consistently unmoved or cold to Carcel up until now. At least in the novel we knew she was wavering continuously and like you said, has a push and pull relationship with Carcel. There were even moments in the novel where she would feel upset when she thinks of Carcel having dinner with a new woman in their dining room and she kept denying or dismissing her growing/changing feelings.

I also agree they reduce or eliminate the emotional impact in some very important moments. To me they didn’t do a good job at all when Ines found out Carcel was attacked in their bedroom by an assassin. There’s the part in the novel where Ines was angry and crying and emotionally expresses her thoughts about all the things she wanted to do to Carcel. In the manhwa, we just saw her reading the letter and prettily crying. Then one panel of her crazy outrage towards Oscar. The emotional impact for the part with her reaction to finding out Carcel almost died fell sorely short though at this point it doesn’t surprise me.

Gosh… I guess I’m on my way to quitting the manhwa as well. I just didn’t realize it until now. I’m not keeping up with the updates—I just came to check and was disappointed. In the novel, Ines doesn’t calmly think, Doesn’t Carcel miss me? Instead, she’s mentally swearing at him for not coming to her. Many times in the novel, I truly felt Carcel’s love for her, but even more than that, I felt her love for him. So many times, it seemed like she was the one more in love, especially when he tries to “push her away” or set boundaries, she doesn't take a no from him. But in the manhwa? Nothing.
The moment she read Raul’s letter was so heart-wrenching—when Raul told her what had happened, my heart ached. I was in awe of Carcel, and my heart cried along with Ines. In the novel, she didn’t cry prettily; she painfully cried like she was going to die from a heartbreak. The manhwa doesn't do justice to the novel.

I think I will be the only novel reader left reading this. I feel like I want to see it through even if it I think it’s just a mediocre adaptation. I was chatting with some fellow novel readers yesterday who already quit and they told me to keep them updated although they don’t intend to pick it up again. They’re done with the manhwa. One of them was originally a fan of the manhwa artist because the artist used to draw art of Ines/Carcel and Luciano when the novel was being written. Now she’s not a fan of her manhwa art especially since she thinks her manhwa art turned Ines into a cold, bossgirl and turned Carcel into a comedic simp. I can understand because her novel sketches showed a warmer Ines and Carcel fit his characterization more in her sketches.

I feel like they are meant to be together. I'm rooting for Heeso and wish he would dump Taekyung because he doesn't love him as much as he does, Heeso should just go find someone who will make him want to live. But after reading the last chapter with the flashback, I agree that Taek suffered a lot. The same goes for Heeso—throughout his childhood, he wanted to die. They are both trees without roots, so maybe they are meant to heal each other's pain. A psycho like Heeso is needed to fight the psycho mum anyway, he will protect Taekyung from harm - I was going to write "the way Taekyung never did," but I remember Taekyung also risked his life to protect Heeso when he was a baby. SMH, I don't get those 2 dummies. Going back to read Kiss Me If You Can, where both dummies are insane for each other, it's always refreshing.
