People just didn’t view child-rearing or discipline the way we do now, so it makes sense in the story’s setting, especially in a power-hungry/life-or-death palace environment. Everyone used anything and anyone to claw their way up. There are actual historical records of concubines killing their own sons and framing rivals just to wipe out competition. So yeah. :/

I wasn't expecting my comment to trigger replies. In all honesty, even with human rights, many kids still suffer nowadays... concubines killing their child back in the days? A few years ago, in a neighboring city, we had a tragedy where a mother committed suicide and murdered her 3 young children with her... leaving the community speechless. These manhwas are fictional, so we can let it slide, hopefully we won't in the real world.
