i came here not expecting much and the first chapters when seeing raymond i was like huhhh ok its the same ol' plot where top is a bastard and bottom is a poor uwu boy, but i'm pleased to say that i have been bamboozled. this is actually really good. the character developtment is so good and it leaves such a fullfilling feeling at end; the characters aren't saints yet they aren't devils either and while they at first hold a really toxic and draining relationship due to selfishness and desire for power, but they developted the relationship and worked on themselves, sometimes u gotta make distance to think things through with a cold head. this all was rooted back to the rotten society they lived in (which if i may add had a really good worldbuilding, the comeback of the rebels was such a nice plotwist and it didnt feel forced and became a storyline that ended logical and satisfactorily), and just a few people can't change whats rotten to the core so the fact that they eloped to another country is just what had to be done. i'm so happy raymond could leave his blindness for power behind which was what made him the most toxic partner and ian not going like a dog back to him and instead taking his time to accept and move on (which im glad he didnt bc they are my otp but thats a good reaction towards such a disastrous relationship). the powerful and rich got what they deserved and i'm so happy for it, forgiveness is not for everyone (you go martha!! shoot that bastard!!). they share a happy ending together where they can and will continue to work on their trauma and problems together in a healthy manner now that they are outside the environment that caused most of their problems in their relationship. this is what they deserve; a happy ending, all of them, kaya, nick, martha, henry, everyone!
in conclusion, this was a really good read. the characters are really good (u end up cherising even the most secondary ones) and the main ship, while at first really toxic, worked through it together. i highly recommend this piece if you like deep and good stories with a love for art.
