My family also treats me like that plus with added physical violence when I was a kid to my teenage years. They would be so sweet sometimes, it was hard not to love them. But I was miserable. I resented them more than I loved them. I often wanted to die just to make them suffer. I was slowly dying inside. But my friends, literally saved my life. I was planning to die at 16, but they made me realize that life wasn't so miserable after all.

But why did she let the villain go the first time?? (Before season 1 ended?) Wasnt that the perfect time to kill her? But she ended up tracking her down instead
I know it's late, but it was explained that she let go solei because if ML killed her right then, hdyle would then go back to the underworld and would choose another host. Whom they wouldn't know, and when would it happen. So she let her go so they could finish it off all at once at the right time with the right plan.
