Reason #1: Taku and Haesoo’s relationship would not have worked in the long run. Because, it all boils down to whether Haesoo wanted to stop sleeping with Joowon because he wanted to end things with him for good or because he wanted to continue to STAY with Joowon even if it meant just being brothers so ppl would approve of their relationship?
This question is really important because if they stopped being lovers, they could ‘legally’ become brothers/family and stay in each other’s lives. And it is clear that Joowon doesn’t care about what label their relationship has so long as they could stay together. This can be observed from when he said “Then why can’t we just be wrong?” (Not exact verbatim). He doesn’t care that they may become or are step-brothers, he only cares about staying with him. And since the parents only cancelled their marriage because of the children, and Joowon doesn’t care about the label, it was highly likely that they become brothers afterwards.
But if that happens, What about Taku? Could he endure his love rival becoming a permanent part of Haesoo as a family and continue their ambiguous relationship? He would be miserable, always second guessing their interactions, doubting Haesoo’s feelings, being jealous of Joowon, being anxious of Haesoo leaving him. And Haesoo wouldn’t be able to give the reassurance Taku would need and Haesoo wouldn’t get the chance to process his emotions and find closure in his feelings. That’s just not fair for Taku.
Reason #2: Taku would not be able to give Haesoo the kind of “love” he wants, and him being a japanese and needing to finish his college would jeopardize their relationship bcs long-distance wouldn’t work for them
Because, do you think Taku can give up his life in Japan, his college, his career, friends and family just to come and live with Haesoo and start anew? If not, then who is left to make the sacrifice of leaving everything behind to live with their lover? It's Haesoo. He's a people-pleaser who can't say no to others. He puts other people's feelings and ineterests first and push his feelings aside often. This can be observed from the way he always went along with Joowon’s wishes despite feeling hurt inside, wanting to stay as brothers for his mom, not being able to stand his ground when his colleague asked him to write an article about Taku’s sex tape, instead he reveals himself as the model to protect Taku’s reputation and not even tell Taku about it, giving Taku 1 month chance and feeling obligated to reciprocate his feelings and even when rejecting him, he waited until the exhibition. it is clear that he's the type to do as others wish to make everyone happy, without considering his own opinion in the matter.
As for Taku, he's just too young and inexperienced to blindly chase for love at his age. Could he stand to go back to Japan knowing Haesoo is with Joowon in Korea, should they decide to do a long-distance? Even if he trusts him, how could they nurture and grow their relationship when they're so for apart? And Haesoo is very anxious (attachment-style) and lonely, he needs reassurance and physical touch to feel safe and loved everyday. So it's quite obvious that Haesoo’d follow Taku to Japan if they want to make their relationship work. But is Taku mature enough to understand Haesoo’s sacrifice or determination to stay with him? As we have seen, he is selfish, manipulative and mostly cares about his own feelings (not judging him as bad, just describing his personality). Like how he wants Haesoo to feel guilty when publishing the sex tape article so he could make him stay with him, how he wants to burrow himself into the void Joowon left in Haesoo's heart, or how he wanted to have Haesoo’s unwaivering love for himself and it was this quality of his that he was attracted to (notice how Taku wants to “have” Haesoo’s love throughout the manhwa). Best he'll think is that it's a good thing for Haesoo and Joowon to stay away from each other if Haesoo decides to leave for Japan. Haesoo would soon be stuck feeling miserable, not being able to voice his opinion, and go along with whoever his current lover is just like how he was with Joowon before.
Reason #3: Haesoo’s feelings are so unreliable and messy to confirm his love for Taku.
Both Taku and Haesoo didn't realize that just ending things with Joowon was not enough to settle everything. Haesoo and Joowon’s feelings were a jumbled mess of love between lovers, family, friends and brothers. They loved and cared for one another, and one didn't care about the label while the other was bothered by the label they had. It wasn't as simple as stop having sex with each other. Did Haesoo hate being with Joowon or hate the circumstances they were in? Did he have the resolve to end everything with Joowon, even as brothers and become NOBODY/strangers in each other’s lives? Would he go back to Joowon if their parents approve their relationship or if Joowon confess his love for him? In order for Taku’s love to be fulfilled, Haesoo’s feelings needed to be untangled first and he needed to make the resolve to completely cut off Joowon from his life. That was the first step needed for their relationship to work. But Haesoo didn’t understand his own feelings for Joowon, what he wanted to do in the future, lacked resolve and time to process his own emotions. He used Taku for comfort and ease his loneliness and pain. It didn’t help that he was confused, and didn’t know how to say no to Taku. Because Taku was there for him, he wanted to reciprocate his feelings. But was it because he felt genuine attraction for Taku or because he felt obligated to return his feelings?
Reason #4: Taku’s feelings are also unreliable tbh
He was just as arrogant as Joowon. He thought he was above the messy feelings of love and relationship, just as one character in the manhwa described him as having “holier than thou” attitude. He did not care about his previous partners’ feelings. He whispered sweet nothings into his models' ears to make them feel special, to bring out their sex appeal for his personal projects. He didn't care about their feelings when he cut ties with them after his work was done. Haesoo was supposed to be just one of his many partners/models.
At first, he was just curious to read what Haesoo would write after Taku would leave him in the future. I forgot the exact concept used in the manhwa, but Taku didn't care about whether what he felt was genuine love or not. He wanted to capture the feeling of being in love and the loss of love through Haesoo through his lens. The attraction he felt at first was to satisfy his own curiosity. It was never meant to be anything serious. But he found himself wanting Haesoo’s love for himself without realizing it. And before he knew it, he was already knee deep in his feelings. He became desperate for Haesoo’s love. But if you noticed, his love was quite selfish, he wanted Haesoo’s love for himself, he didn’t want to feel heartbroken. He just wanted to have Haesoo’s unwavering love like a child reaching out for the candy jar. P.S I’m not saying Taku’s love was fake, I’m saying it was different than Haesoo and Joowon’s.
Taku only wanting to be loved by using whatever means like emotional manipulation, and Haesoo willing to cater to his lover's wishes, do everything for them was not a healthy combo. it had every potential to be toxic given their personalities.
Reason #5: It was a losing game for Taku from the start
Their whole relationship revolved around Haesoo and Joowon’s love for each other, and not because Haesoo was attracted to Taku as a person. Haesoo sought comfort in Taku’s embrace, and Taku wanted to take the place of Joowon. Even when working as a model, Taku wanted to portray the emotions of love and the loss of love through Haesoo. But who was the object of those emotions for Haesoo? Joowon.
And relationships are messy. Ppl go back and forth because of their feelings all the time. It takes months and sometimes years to settle their feelings. So giving Taku only a month was unfair from the beginning. Taku and Haesoo were both too tied to Haesoo and Joowon’s feelings that they simply didn’t have time to get to know each other, focus on each other, develop feelings for each other. They both tried to replace Joowon’s feelings in Haesoo’s heart, instead of building genuine connection with each other.
Time and circumstance was not on Taku’s side.
Reason #6: It was actually for Taku’s own good if they don’t end up together
Listen. Taku needed that love and heartbreak. We may “understand” the value of having someone. But it is only after we lose them that we truly “feel” the value of having them in our lives. So it is through heartbreaks, failures, mistakes, rejection and loss that we truly feel pain and understand the value of smth/someone. It gives us the chance to learn and grow.
Imagine what Taku learned from this relationship:
- He learned what it feels like to be in love, be jealous and insecure because of love.
- He also saw the way Joowon and Haesoo would risk and do everything for their love. It’s not just about protecting your own feelings because you love someone and you’re afraid of a heartbreak. Haesoo would choose Joowon despite all the risk, hurt, disappointment and difficulties he may face in the future.
- He learned that not everything goes your way in life. You can’t force or control someone’s feelings no matter how much you try sometimes. You have to win their hearts rather than “make” them love you.
- He learned to be vulnerable to his friends. His friend said the time he cried was like the first time he was his real self. Allowing yourself to be vulnerable is a part of creating a genuine and deep connection with others.
- He could now empathize with his previous partners, understand why they felt miserable, unloved and cried as they broke up with him. He could start treating their next partners with sincerity and compassion if he learnt anything from this breakup.
Like I’m sooo excited to read his story and to know how much he has changed and grown.
I have a loooot of character analysis on Haesoo, Joowon and even the parents. But will end it here. I honestly thought the end game was Taku, though, surprised but nonetheless happy with the read. I wouldn’t have minded if everyone stayed single. Hha.

This story’s kinda interesting
It’s not your everyday to have this twisted psychopathic seme and a normal person under abuse portrayed realistically. I hope It will stay realistic to the end no matter which ending it chooses. I can see two viable options as an ending, the uke learning helplessness, mentally breaks down, maybe develop stockholm syndrome to please the abuser so he will be tortured less, or the uke loosing his mind from all the abuse and either try to murder the abuser or himself.
I read somewhere in spoiler, that the uke somehow fails to suicide and ends up with amnesia. That’s interesting as well, as the brain does erase the memories of the traumatic event in order to cope.
He could develop various mental illnesses to cope with as well.
but this story is definitely harmful for susceptible young readers, ppl affected by abuse or other mental illnesses though. This could be triggering for them.
This story is beyond perfect. It’s a masterpiece. I have no words for it. The characters, their depth, their growth, and the way they communicated and made this relationship work is so beautiful that it made me question my own reality.
They’re so wholesome and realistic! Their character growth is so pleasant to watch! And that communication? Is the cherry on top. Just perfect!!

Spoilers:
So at the ball, Ail dances with Salina and Luce thinks how beautiful and perfect they look together. Jealous and dejected he goes to the balcony to get some air and gets down from the balcony with Elsen. Ail likes Salina as in she’s ambitious and bold, perfect for the role of empress. And after the dance, Ail looks for Luce inly to find him laughing, having a good time and practicing dancing in the garden with Elsen. Ail gets so mad at the sight of them and recalls how Luce only ever acts wary in front of Ail, yet he laughs so easily when he’s with others. He’s overcome with jealousy but doesn’t realize it. Luce’s hand wound reopens so Elsen and him goes to his room to dress the wound and encounters the prince waiting inside Ail’s room. I forgot what conversation they had but prob not something pleasant lol. The prince leaves.
From then on, the prince makes a deal with Salina to deal with 2 birds with 1 stone, a.k.a removing Elsen and Erina(was it? Elsen’s crush) and trap Luce so he can never get away from him. Salina would gain the crown princess position out of this deal.
Later, it is announced that Elsen ran away with Erina causing treason (when in reality it was Salina and Ail’s plottting, Salina is keeping the two inside her mansion.) Ail orders Elsen to be killed on sight and sends a search party all over. Panicked, the other friend of Luce persuades Luce to go see the Prince to change his mind and Luce goes to see him as Ail planned. He begs him but their relationship is not built on trust and is purely exchange-based, so the prince asks what he can give to him in exchange. He then tells Lice to give him his body. Luce, backed to a corner have no choice but to accept. And the prince asks him to give him a head. Luce sucks at it obviously but that turns on Ail so much. Ail even dreamt of ravishing Luce in his dream the night before. Well they proceed to the bed, and Ail, without preparation, penetrates Luce. They have hot steamy sex but poor Luce. They talk about how it was Luce’s first time and how no one has entered his hole blah3 the prince is rough with him and wants him to remember this pain (I forgot the reason). Luce screams and cries in pain at first but feels pleasure afterwards.
The next morning, Luce finds out that he was stripped of his Commander position and is to stay in the Northern Palace to become his lover/concubine. Luce is shocked as he thought it was a one night. The prince tells him he sold his body to him, so he’s in the prince’s possession.
The prince starts to feel displeased and pained at some of his interactions with Luce as he is oblivious to his feelings and just want Luce to love him, look at him, smile gently, warmly at him like he does with others. But stupid fuck dunno how to beg or ask or doesn’t know what he’s feeling is love rn (not just lust).
Luce then asks for permission to go see his mother as she has fallen ill. This is an excuse to go look for Elsen. The prince agrees and sends guards with him to the Kaizel estate. There, Luce changes clothes with the doctor and escapes with his other friend. They change carriage etc. the prince feels uneasy like Luce is getting away from his grasp so he goes to the estate only to find that he’s gone. The mother tells the prince that Luce is stubborn and if Luce will rebel fiercely should he try to take him force, but if he want to have him, he should try gentle persusasion etc. Ail tells her that Luce is his bla3 and he orders Luce to be brought. Here, Luce hears that Elsen and Erina were trapped in Salina’s estate and all of this was the prince and Salina’s plot. He feels betrayed but he has a tiny sliver of hope that the prince is doing all this bcs he wants Luce by his side that he loves him just a tiny tiny bit.
He then willingly goes back to confront the prince about his ploy and his intentions behind it. They have very emotional conversation, Luce can’t tell the prince that he loves him and the prince doesn’t know why’s he’s doing all this. Things escalate badly, they both hurt each other with their words, Luce decides to leave and Ail’s mind literally blanks out and is filled with madness at the thought of Luce leaving him, causing him to strangle Luce almost at the verge of death. Ail wad then petrified at what he had done and he ran away bc he might harm him again. He then orders 3 knight order to stand guard in the northern palace, and nobody to enter, isolating Luce. Ail also realizes that he will go mad (literally) and will die without Luce. Also Ail lashed out at Luce before strangling him that he’s just a dog to him, and he abhors the idea of his loyal dog leaving him willingly without his consent — which he didn’t mean it but he so emotionally constipated lol and this breaks Luce’s heart)
It’s now Ail’s coming of age ceremony that will be held for days. Ail only visits Luce at night in fear of how Luce will look at him and what they’ll say to each other. He is extremely gentle and is longing in his touch when he visits him at night. Luce starves himself. Ail threatens to slash the servant’s hands each time he refused to eat. Luce starts throwing cruel words at him which he deserves and shuts off his heart. The prince is pained inside. And one night, when he was a bit intoxicated, tossing away his pride, he asks for Luce to give his heart to which he scoffs at and throws sarcastic mean words at him to which the prince loses all hope to rectify everything and that Luce’s heart is closed now. Soooo they throw punches at each other, Luce bites Ail’s lip when he forcefully kissed him. And they have another sex.
