Depression can be a chemical imbalance, but it also can be situational (ex. loss of a loved one, financial stress, etc.). This is obviously situational depression if the illegal uploads are destroying the author's mental health. Please don't act like you understand concepts that you don't know:/ Always research first before you spread misinformation about depression.

Bold of you to assume I haven't researched about an illness I suffer from myself lol okay, we can get more technical then: yes, it might a certain traumatic situation that can lead someone to depression, but depression in itself is a chemical imbalance. It's still unknown why the brain does that and why some people seem to be more prone to it than others. Clearly, if the author is really suffering from suicidal ideation she the situation she is leaving lead her to a serious illness that do not go away just by itself. Depression needs treatment.
