2.Despite his abuse, if he REALLY cared for Ruby I’m not sure why he didn’t try to explain it to her. I’m gonna assume he didn’t want to ruin her innocence, or “taint” her like the way he is (if that makes sense.)

I got lost with the plot halfway but by the end I think I understood is that just me?
I think either the translation was off or just the way their dialogue / story was flown, quite a lot of details were left out of scene (that was why suddenly a lot of T/N (translator's notes) were pasted everywhere, because the story felt lost or confusing at some point).
