- relationship
both main characters were truly very complicated and frustrating when it came to each other and their own personal goals, it took me a lot of patience to keep pushing through despite how initially toxic they were to each other. it paid off, and i love how they slowly started to trust and become more honest to each other through their actions. it was very satisfying to see them finally work through their problems and actually develop a proper relationship, especially in the last few chapters in seo ho’s case.

- plot
i won’t lie and say i understood everything, i’ve never cared much for anything related to business and finance which was 90% of this manhwa’s overarching story so i lagged a bit when reading. but fortunately you should be able to comprehend it regardless of your understanding of those aspects because it’s not too hard to follow the gist of the story, as long as you’re willing to read through it a little slower. i had to reread some parts to fully make sense of what’s being said.

- main characters
you’ll have to have a lot of patience for them too. they’re very complex, and they hide their intentions and feelings—even the main POV (jeong soheon) which make it a little hard for you to properly empathize with them/root for them. the story is so plot heavy, you’ll barely find them in situations where they can relax and talk about themselves to make you more attached. i questioned myself why i was reading this multiple times at first because of how i just could not get attached to the characters, but as they developed, i gradually liked them. maybe not so much that i would sob and wail for them (personally), but they’re still likable by the end of it!

- complaints
as i said, the story is very plot heavy, it focuses a lot on the main story (the fight between ml seo ho and woo jaeyeon) we only get VERY BRIEF explanations of the main characters’ backgrounds before the main story starts. the mc, jeong soheon and his little brother jeong seongji were abused by their mother, but this storyline was glossed over and never brought up again. i feel like there was potential there, yet it never came up again. although the mc and ml had a relationship development, i feel like mc and his little brother remained stagnant, and seongji never had a properly shown character development, he wasn’t even shown in the last chapter. it’s such a shame, he was the one who kickstarted all this yet he’s reduced to such a small role in the story, only shown when the author needed a convenient character to cause trouble for mc.

we also weren’t shown ml’s struggle for power before he met mc, nor how he met lee jawook. we don’t even know why lee jawook is so devoted to him, we just took it for granted, which could’ve been an interesting plot point. even a simple “i’m doing it for the money” would’ve been nice. i really hope there’s side stories to give the characters more room for showing their personality.

i swear i put out a comment earlier but it doesn’t show for some reason? anyway i finished reading ch4-5.2, i thought 5.2 was part of the first volume but it was actually separate!? that’s kind of criminal especially if you bought only the first volume LOL

i really like how ryo’s the one who’s more attached and acts like a puppy around kanta… and also how it takes a while for kanta to actually come around and like him back lol, although i personally don’t really like his best friend and don’t see why kanta would like him, it’s understandably hard to immediately move on from his years long crush… but it’s great that he ultimately fell in love with ryo and found his own happiness c: i’m glad ryo was persistent because kanta’s actually really stubborn lol

at this point in time although kanta finally likes him back, it feels like he’s still awkward with him, so i hope the rest of the volume focus on him getting more comfortable with ryo… i heard there were some timeskips? i’m a little excited to see them older :D thanks for the translation!

this was released in 2021 vs bean counter (manga) released in 2020 so yeah this is not just a coincidence. if it was just a similar trope then it would’ve stopped at mc being dragged into another world with the saintess girl, but the plot progression is the same LOL

it’s a shame, the art is already good and there’s enough original plot idea for it to deviate from bean counter but they just kept it going lol

anyone got a bl where the mc/uke is stupid? but specifically the “caelus hsr kind of stupid” where his stupidity is played for jokes and not the kind where his stupidity makes you boil in anger (bonus points if he can get purposefully dramatic as a joke)

guwon looks so irredeemable but i swear MC’s also an unreliable narrator because i still don’t believe he’s a pitiful innocent guy that got dragged into guwon and friends’ situation. are we going to ignore that he has a habit of strangling and almost killing people (in this case guwon) in his sleep? he’s also sick in the head some way or another, maybe because his head got hit. he might just be making up memories to villainize guwon and bury the idea of him killing his own dad (and maybe his dad was already a maggot). i hope he is not gonna lie, so they can both be mentally ill together LMAO.

i also feel like there’s more to guwon’s demeanor, rather than it being innate, he was probably shaped by his environment + those “hounds” didn’t help… he did say mc’s the only person who helped him realize what’s right and wrong. regardless i love toxic codependent yaoi!!!! i hope they continue being codependent!!!!!!

lowkey got a fever while rereading this but it’s worth it. i love these two so much, i’m so happy they got a happy ending despite everything

can someone explain what happened with kouhei (and ryuu) during volume 2-3 with the cochlear implants? it’s been a while since i read this so i don’t remember much of it anymore but i saw a deaf person talk about how they got cochlear implants and other people in their community said that they “betrayed” them because of it, and i came back to this wondering if ryuu thinks so too and then he ripped the paper. then kouhei eventually threw it away, which i don’t remember why.
