I'm so grateful for this spoiler I was thinking the god of love was too cruel if they weren't soulmates after taking the time to create a whole new character for her that wasn't in the original novel. Also is it just taboo if people who don't share a mark stay together or does something else happen?
It is not necessarily a taboo. It's just that after one of the people find their mate, the love he or she felt for the person who is not her/his mate will disappear like it never happened.

I found that out and I guess it would be cruel for those who never manefest their mark or if their soulmate dies...do you experience seal sickness or you love someone else knowing you had a one truly deep connection? Like Elissa and Ellizay's dad he seems fine now but what happened when his wife died?
That's a good question. The thing is right after they find their mate the love that they felt disappear like it never existed, they dont feel pain. They are struck by love at first sight right after they see their soulmate. If their soulmate dies it's like a part of their souls dies.
