Psychologically, humans are not fully "adults" until 25 so what's with these adult age numbers (US 18 for example). Additionally, humans are actually sexually mature at puberty and since you're tiny brain doesn't know this - that's 11-15 years old, and the reason being is because biologically, we want to produce children while it's more likely the mother survives (that's why 35+ is geriatric age- I hope you know what geriatric means). Culturally we made 18 the threshold of it being okay but biologically and psychologically, we're off. If we went by morality - the cut off should be 25.

Reread my comment. When did I say anything about morality? Or whether anything is right or wrong? I'm just pointing out what someone say wrong. Those are the literal definitions of those particular "-philis". And they are distinguished in psychology for important reasons (Look it up since I'm tired of you people just throwing around terms). And I simply states what the age of consents are in those locations (look it up instead of arguing semantics). Also if you were educated in philosophy or religion, you'd know that "morality" (the principles regarding the distinction of right and wrong) is product of times. For example, women were expected to marry young back in the day to increase the chances of surviving childbirth. Would you say that is "wrong" if the women getting married then having children after 25 would significantly increase their chances of dying? So don't just throw around that word, thinking that it makes you in the "right". And before you go off again, the Bible itself looks considered girls "women" ready to marry and bear children when puberty starts (which for some starts at 12!).

Someone on here once said, that the reason why authors make the setting in high school is, because it allows for easier meet ups between characters with different personalities, desires and life goals, as high school students usually aren't placed together with others for the field they want to study for. This is also the reason why a lot of action stories take place during school years.

Taking this from the rabbit wolf story, someone who wants to work in the movie and production field won't have a likely meeting with someone in the teaching field in collage.

My guess is that manhwas are able to fully flesh these out with 60 chapters or so, whereas mangas usually have only one volume to work with.

The college field thing was also a guess based on the current BL stories here, since i just went straight to work.

This is just my guess, but I feel like many Japanese artists think back of high school, middle school period fondly, probably because that period students have more time to involve in love, sport and other activities. Once they are in university and work, they are buried in responsibilities and have less time to themselves. For university, I feel like people there don't make a lot of friends there, maybe because of schedule?? There are barely movies and dramas about university life and if they do, their friends usually high school friends more than new friends.

Yeah I'm gonna have to agree. I think that the use of high school as like the most common romance setting can get old and adds a layer of discomfort. This author is definitely guilty of it too, since most of their work is based in high school. With the exception of like two sequels here and there.

im 8 months late but whatever. its just cultural difference. japanese sees highschool as the happiest period of their life where they still have the freedom they don't have when they're older. that's why most romance authors gravitate towards writing highschool setting.

but why can koreans write with college setting? have you heard about how stressed korean highschoolers are? most of them study from morning to like 10 pm. no one wants to look back on their highschool era. nowadays there's a lot more authors attempting at making highschool romance tho.
