I don't blame her at all. She lived with the guy in a past life and was married to him and despite expressing her feelings and doing things to make him like her, he never looked her way and even ended up hating her so much he executed her so she'd be the dumbest idiot on earth if she just believes he loves her now so simply. Also, he never openly expressed his feelings and even though some people believe actions speak louder than words, some words need to be spoken to be believed.
Additionally, she wanted to use this life of hers to help people and dedicate everything of hers for their good so romance isn't on top of her list much less romance with the guy who made her head fly before. I think all her actions and the way she rationalizes his feeling, all are justified.
I agree with Akera, you can't expect someone who executed you in your first life to suddenly like you. Just take a step in Elise's shoes, your husband hated you and killed you; you reincarnated in your second life and to make up for the bad things you did in your first life, you become a doctor or surgeon to help people and then suddenly, you die and go back to your first life. With your newfound experience and different views on situations, you try to fix up all the shit you did in this first life and not fall in the love with the prince and maybe help people, you know, don't let your family die because of your fuck up. Why do you think she tried so hard to break of her engagement with the prince, made the bet with the king and took an exam just so that she can become a respected doctor and such. It was all so that she doesn't fuck up again and fall in love with the prince, marry him and fuck up then get executed.
And also, while the prince's actions are obvious to us, Elise still has a bunch of stuff on her plate and she's kinda too busy to notice. And as far as I read, the prince barely say nothin and doesn't hangs out with her. Unlike Ron, who literally took Elise on a date and spent a couple months with her cuz he's her patient. Those two got to know each other more. So what I'm basically saying is, Elise has a crush on Ron cuz she got to know him more. And I'm a mess and anything I say is in shambles etc. K bye.
