No, Jade doesn't go off the deep end. He becomes even more jealous and possessive once he finds out Ruri is human. (This was hinted at in Ch 13 updated recently) This is explained that dragons are possessive by nature (which follows common dragon mythology about hoarding treasure). The problem is that Ruri doesn't understand at first. And all of this combined with the magical customs in the world makes a strange situation that was mentioned in the post. It will be explained eventually and is nothing to worry about. To better understand, I would recommend reading the novel, it is a wonderful read.
