The omegaverse concept is already very problematic. Even if the omega are male, they are given female roles unnecessarily and they are portrayed as if they should be weak just because they can give birth to children (sorry if the term of feminization sounds transphobic, I'm talking about biological sex, not gender). This is both a concept that humiliates women and in every manga, omega characters are extremely fragile and unprotected. this is really annoying.

Is it really that bad to be female or feminine? I always respect mangakas because their imagination always fascinates me. But sometimes I question whether we live in the same world because they pretend to be unaware of gender, transgender, women's rights, and more. Of course they do not have to reflect these concepts completely in their manga, but sometimes it feels like they all live in a shell.

The omega MC at the manhwa "Love Shuttle" says otherwise tho.

But yeah, and it's not only in omegaverse themselves. Yaoi books tend to stereotype uke's to being weak, fragile, needs a knight and shining armor (even if that knight and shining armor is garbage). Basically means that it doesn't have to be an omegaverse, but the question is, who is the uke? And no, it's not that bad to be female, but as a person that lives in Asia, certain countries that act "conservatively" places the subject in a very stereotypical point of view. Certain 'stereotypes' look at effeminate people as soft, weak, etc. Which are a pain in the ass.

Heck in my country the people still don't know how to separate gender and sexuality. Imma be about to rant but imma stop it here. But to the end of it, yes, their perspectives of the real world may likely be just in a shell or box.

My comment might not make sense, as I ended up deleting a huge portion of it coz it turned into an essay.

I understand your frustration, I really do. But you have to understand that this is not real... it's like a fetish, if you will. You can't go to a porn website and complain that "the dude is a scumbag for cheating on his wife" because simply that's just not real, and it is a fantasy for a lot of married men.

Also, some gay people, especially in drag, do the same thing. They portrait their fem side, using all these stereotypes that is considered demeaning for women. They discussed this in RuPaul Drag Race, and they said that they're living a fantasy. It is not the best thing in the world, but as long as you understand the line between real life and this fantasy and as long as you're not hurting anyone, you're in the clear - I guess.

As for japan's women's rights, Japan is one of the worst countries, when it comes to women's rights. It is so bad that women are prohibited from wearing glasses at some work places. They're are a few videos on that one youtube. And that's just one example. They have all these ideals for women and deviation from that is frowned upon. So, I am not really surprised at the lack of respect, or even understanding, for women in these mangas.

As for homosexuality, well. ... Japan is not the only country in the world that doesn't understand the core meaning of homosexuality. To a lot of uneducated countries, a homosexual man, is a man who fantasies about being a woman, or being treated like a woman. I'm not even joking. I travel a India once, and was dumbfounded at how the people defined homosexuality. So, Japan is not alone in that. I hope that changes soon.

I would advise us to just avoid the topics that you don't agree with, like I do.

    Good luck

yes unfortunately you are right, frankly this is the case not only in omegaverse but in almost all manga. and yes the uke in the love shuttle looks different. I've actually read a lot of mangas with ukes that are more "masculine" or semes that are more "feminine" and I think they are usually the manga that I like and they sound more realistic, not because acting feminine or being a woman is bad or unrealistic, but because vulnerability is always attributed to women, as if all homosexuals who display these behaviors, in short, who act "feminine", are supposed to be bottom (and of course i don't think being a bottom is a vulnerable thing, but this is what they show in these comics).

And I also think this is all true for mangas on heterosexual relationships. Not only Asia, but also in many other places, these prejudices are still not overcome. this is really sad.

I also live in Asia and in my country there is still no known gender and sexuality. I've been reading manga since 2011, and as I get older I realize that most things are described as extremely shallow and ridiculous. Although there are exceptions, I guess we cannot expect more than that in a manga for now.

I wish you didn't delete it, I would like to read your essay .. now you have read my sloppy essay ;)

You are right about what you say I actually read enough manga to distinguish between reality and fiction and I am aware that these are fetishes in their own right. Japan and most other countries (including my country) are still unaware of most situations. I mean I live in Asia too so I already know what the situatins in Japan. And I watched RuPaul also.
Actually, as I said, they don't have to write realistically, but it was like a little moment of awareness and confession, I wrote these because I felt uncomfortable while reading. Of course I ignore the things I don't like. thanks for your answer Jasmine <3 I am really glad we agree. And I guess I made you think I'm obsessed with this issue lol im not don't worry (〃゚3゚〃)

    No it is okay
I usded to write a lot of comments like that in the past. My frustration got really bad that I had to leave yaoi for over two years. I have been reading manga since 2009. Things actually has gotten a little better than before. So, I'm hoping that soon we'll see more progress and awareness
