Before the story changed to them being humans there was a chapter where we see his mother and brother died. And while looking for them (cause he didn’t know) he found the other guy.
Wait did they die or did he just get separated??? I’m gonna have to look again bc I was really hoping they get reunited eventually
They died, it showed them under a little cliff while it was raining and then they went to sleep, when he woke up he looked behind him and the little cliff was now a pile of dirt, showing us that his mother and brother died while asleep.
