One is a wimpy coward with no self respect and the other is a cruel, self-centred, egotistic and violent asshole. I don’t get why this didn’t work out with a happier outcome?

I like toxic ML, but I like when it feels like they care for the MC in a obsessive messed up way. This one though just seems to want to hurt the MC. I really hope there will be an arc of him feeling bad and begging for forgiveness, because this is getting hard to read.
