I can’t tell if the guy is trying to be nice or cruel. ML probably did break his heart so he could be sincere. And at the same time, how many times haven’t we seen the toxic ex drop in to mess things up for our MC.

Granted, most people don’t have a romantic involvement with their pets, as rightly they shouldn’t, but I will make an exception here.
So we are now done with one third of the back story I feel for those who don’t like it, but I am still entertained.
