I just read Return to Player before reading the newest update and realized how much worse the storyline+characters are in comparison—honestly shocked lmao. It went from a 5 to a 3 for me.

So you’re saying that in comparison to another work it’s worse but how about you think about this work on it self, you said you thought it was a 5 but after reading another one it was a 3, the story didn’t change tho?? You just read something better. There’s a lot of good works out there, if you were to think like that for every single work in existence none would be good enough because there would always be one that tops it. Look you're arguing against the entirety of rating things. What are rating systems for? to distinguish the mid, bad and good. So there is no choice but to draw comparison if you want to give an accurate rating. If I were to rate, "based solely on the work's own merits" then my rating would simply be inaccurate and unfair. Because, in my eyes, it doesn't have the better storyline, character design, etc. So why would I rate it a 5? I can appreciate works while also acknowledging that they're not the best of the best. "if you were to think like that for every single work in existence none would be good enough because there would always be one that tops it" because that's simply how life works - things always change, your no. 1 now probably isn't the same as it was a few years ago. Because of a simple factor called discovery. You discover new things as you grow. simple as that. Does that make sense?

You have a point, I agree with what you said, what didn’t make sense to me was how a work that was a 5 could drop to a 3 only because you read another work that in your opinion was better since I never change my ratings, if I thought it was a 5 when I read then it’s a 5 and that’s that, it doesn’t change just because another work is better, but now that you’ve explained it like this, I have to say that I agree with what you’re saying, it was when you said “your no. 1 now probably isn't the same as it was a few years ago.” that I understood the essence of what you meant, as you are right my favourite did in fact change, not because the previous fav work was bad but because the new fav is better.

You compared this 20+ chapter with a 130+ chapter webtoon? I don't see how that is fair tbh. It should be compared to a 20+ chap webtoon too yk..

It was poorly shown in the manhwa but the interactions of the characters in the novel are better.

Sadly there are no ‘feels’ in the manhwa but if you read the novel you’ll probably tear up. It may sound ultra rude I’m frustrated that one of my favorite novel is poorly illustrated like this. :(
