Let me remind you, in the original story, Aseph fell in love with fl's twin. Once prince Ludwig came back to the country, and the prince and FL's twin met, they fell in love with each other ant turns out the both had matching marks (prince Ludwig and FL's sister are soulmates) leaving poor Aseph broken behind.
Had not someone requested prince Ludwig's return, the prince and her sister would have never had the chance to meet each other ever again, and her sister would have suffered from the soulmate mark sickness forever.

Ive just read some of the other comments and i support the one assumption where Ludwig is the read hair beside the king/emperor... Bc according to what youve said, why would Aseph know the novels true plot and request for Ludwigs return?
Aseph mightve said that he will not let Ludwig get what he wants, so thats why he wants the prince to come back... -this makes more sense i hope its right.... But if its really what u said i need to reread the story once again lol

Aseph had sent his butler to an auction to get something I am not certain of, but it seems like prince Ludwig claimed it, maybe it was something like a gift for our FL I assume. So there might be other reasons than what you'd think it is for why Aseph wants the prince to come back (not something related to the original story) something like, leading the prince back to the kingdom to get the chance to get what he wants from the prince.
