so jungwoon is the son of the nis agent (dakyung’s boss) and the director of the orphanage that chairman lee got orphans from to pick his successor, make the guards, etc. after jungwoon’s father died and while his mother was on a nis mission, jungwoon was taken by the butler (who’s an undercover nis agent) on the orders of the nis. he was brought to take a test (the chess game) to see if he could be chairman lee’s successor. he passed the test since he showed his intellect and was adopted by the chairman, thus becoming his son and successor. the nis used jungwoon because they wanted to raise him as a spy for the nis within the sa-young group, which was getting in their way.
