True, but I would still give Dan extenuating circumstances for his behavior, given that he is in a position where he really has no choice, and that the fact that JJ rendered all these services to him (allegedly) appears like a hero has his eyes. Even if it's sad, believe me, it's still a fairly realistic thought pattern for people in the same situation as Dan (aka falling in love with his abuser).
