In the first chapters of the story though it focused so much on jihyun and sangmin that I had to double back and take a look at the genre and make sure that it wasnt yaoi.

Read the LN as well after reading the manga. It's true that there are things that have been omitted, but hopefully, it should pick up as most mangas do when they adapt from LN.
